Rather grandiose and a stunning banksia, this is a favourite of the larger native parrots. The tree grows in the Jarrah and Marri woodlands stretching south along the Darling escarpment and it is a beautiful sculptural medium to large tree. I also love the giant cone with seed pods that are revealed as the hundreds of stamens open and slowly drop away.
