These red and green Kangaroo Paws are Western Australia’s state floral emblem. They are another unique structural flowering plant found endemically in this state, and I have loved finding them in the wild bush on our trips in the southwest and in the hills around where we live. They are fascinating to me as they have many interesting parts, how they change from one colour to another and how they twist and become single statements in a whole grove of the same flowering plants. I’ve enjoyed painting these unique plants as they have a flow and linear shape that is a pleasure to capture with my inks and paints.
