Poppies were suddenly in my life once we shifted from the Goldfields in Western Australia to a new house and garden in Perth.  My introduction to my new garden were hundreds of self sown poppies which the previous owner had in the winter rose garden. Their paper like petals and jaunty stamens were a treat for me and the bees! From that day I was instantly sold on having a garden for the birds and the bees and me!
